Auto Wipers Lost

I recently had to change the wiper motor on my 2004 Lincoln LS V8. After the new motor was installed I lost the automatic wiper feature (rain sensor no longer working), and lost the ability to press the washer button to get a single wipe on the windshield.

Anybody have an idea if this might be a problem with the replacement motor or with some programming issue.

Thanks for any help.

So are you suggesting the motor used for my replacement is wrong?

Seems to me like a motor is a motor, but the controls/computer tell it what to do. But I am only being rational, which clearly does not work with automobile computers.

Yes, our cars are over-engineered. Check application of the motor you bought.
