My 2002 Lincoln Town Car has a noise that sounds like air being sucked in around the air filter. This only happens sporadically and with little consistency and might happen after 10 miles or 200 miles. It only lasts for a minute or two. Any ideas?

It's your air compressor pumping up your air suspension in the rear of the vehicle, the air springs. It's the air compressor pumping up your rear suspension.

I guess I got too fast. This is a very cheap way to make a 'Smoke Machine'. If you will do this and hook up to your manifold in a not breezy place. The smoke will escape through any cracks so you can identify them and replace them. Usually a sound of air being sucked is indicative of a vacuume leak.

When my air spring compressor runs I hear the motor / pump vibrating more than any sucking sound and it does it every time I turn the key on, not randomly.
