To me, just looking at the service manual, it looks like it is doable.
Just looking at the service manual, I can see it’s not a 10 minute job.
There are a lot of things that need to be disconnected or removed.
It appears that the engine has to be supported because of removal of the “Left hand engine support insulator bracket” which to me, sounds like a motor mount.
Hope this helps.
Did you get this taken care of? I have an 01 I have to replace the housing and seal on. Not sure all that needs to be removed/how. Seems the middle front engine mount needs to be removed as well as the power steering pump. Hate to do more work than is needed. If the PS pump has to be fully taken out, or just the two 10mm bolts removed or what. If you can let me know that would be a huge help.
borjawil has a thread here: Continental 4.6 oil adapter housing removal that may help you with all the procedures you need. It is for a 4.6 Continental. The 1999 model appears to use the same procedure as the 2002 model.
