    Wheel Cylinders

I need to change the wheel cylinders and rotors on my 1994. I can't find any marked as "fronts".

Are the front and rear cylinders the same?

    Thanks!

What is a wheel cylinder to you? If it is the caliper front left shown here: http://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo....188862&jsn=442 Or the piston that fits into the caliper? Rockauto shows many different makes for the caliper and the front and rear are different see list here: http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/l...b,caliper,1704

The rotors are quite different since rear includes the drum for parking brake, front is just a disc.

    Good luck.

Town, I'm not familiar with a 1994 TC, but looking at Rock Auto's site, they do also list rear drums on that car...example; http://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog/l...+hub,drum,1744
And I also see they list rear rotors. That leads me to believe that rear disc brakes were an option?

Regarding Michele's question, your car could only possibly have wheel cylinders on the rear brakes. Front disc brakes (using calipers, not wheel cylinders) were standard on all Lincolns since the early 70's. If your mechanic is referencing wheel cylinders, that would only apply to the rear brakes...as long as your car has rear drum brakes & not disc. There's no rear wheel cylinders used on Lincoln rear disc brakes, to my knowledge.

Hi Slick Fan, sorry but the 1994 model has rear disc brakes. The 11 inch rear drums were last used for the 1990 model. The 1991 and later used disc brakes with the parking brake drum.

    Take care.

Okay, it sounds like it's a mistake on Rock Auto's listing then. Wouldn't be a first!

Thanks for the clarification Town, that helps.
