    2004 Navigator Air Conditioning Recharge

I need to replace the compressor on my 2004 Navigator and am having a hard time visualizing the relationship between the front and back units. Are they interconnected? I like to be able to visualize the entire procedure before starting a repair like this.

For refrigerant capacity, the sticker under the hood shows:

    Front A/C 32oz

    Front and Rear A/C 54oz

If I change the compressor, would I need to recharge with 54oz of refrigerant or are the front/back units somehow separated?

Also, does the 2004 gator have an orifice tube? Whenever I search the internet for one it defaults to a expansion block. If there is an orifice tube, where exactly is it?

I also purchased a new accumulator/dryer. When looking in the engine compartment, its location isn't obvious. Is it underneath near the compressor?

I did buy a chilton manual that isn't very helpful.

Thanks in advance for any help.
