Can anyone tell me how to remove the rear view mirror from the windshield mount on a 1998 Continental ?
Is there a clip or fastener that I'm not seeing ?

You may get an answer here but this discussion is primarily for the 2017 Continental. Go to the Lincoln Community link above and go down to Continentals not in production. I'm sure you'll get an answer there.

Lincoln used different mounting techniques according to models. I am told that for the 1998 Continental the procedure is:

The bracket is held on by a tension spring type clip. Often times you can remove it by placing a pocket type flat screw driver in the little slot on the bottom of the mirror bracket, this will remove the tension and the mirror should slide off.
As far as removing the "button" mount off the glass just heat the metal part with a bic lighter for about 15 to 20 seconds then grasp the button with a plier and give a slight twist and it should come off.

In looking at other versions of this procedure it appears that the mirror slides up and off its mounting.

Hope this helps and good luck.

Were you able to remove the mirror from your 1998 Lincoln Continental? Please reply, I have the same problem.
