    No, there are lots of sites dealing with Lincoln and have Continental forums, although some do not have any place holder or input on the 2017 (gen 10) version. Some, like this one: http://lincolncontinentalforum.net/f...inental-forum/ are dedicated to the Continental and have the 2017 model discussions. Others have lots of info on Continentals of old but no official recognition of the 2017 model like this one: http://www.lincolnsonline.com/forum/...play.php?f=254 Probably that will change over time and the 2017 Continental (and subsequent years) getting cheaper through the used market.

    Finding sites is not a problem at all, Google sorts it all out for you, having the interest to look is the barrier to more participants on Forums. Out of hundreds of millions of people owning vehicles there are probably way less than 1% who participate in forums.

    100%. Having the interest to look is the barrier. Most Continental owners have no need for a forum - until there's an issue with their car. THEN they look. As time goes on and people run into issues with their Continental - they'll be here... Right now the car is so new that, hopefully, nobody's had a reason to look for us. When all is said and done, people typically use forums for a few things:

    1. To sign up and complain about their car (problems; need a fix)
    2. To sign up and show the world what they've got
    3. To sign up and talk amongst like-minded automobile owners

    I think its done in that order... So most of the people that'll be here in the future just aren't at that point yet. The rest haven't found us yet...

    #1 doesn't sound so great - but a lot of times people sign up, initially angry, but become connected with the group - especially when they find support. So most of the time it turns out good when they stick around...

    My latest question concerns the 2018 Continental? How do you think it will add anything new?
    Or does it really have to do anything to get more appeal and attention? Maybe the black-out addition would be interesting????
    I know the designers have held back for future models but what more is needed? More horsepower, better mpg? Better what?
    Is there going to be a 2018 Continental?

    You should start a new thread on the 2018 Continental. That would allow info to be shared easier. I have not heard anything about the 2018 model. There is nothing that I would like to see changed or added so it will be interesting to see what Lincoln decides. I think there is a cut-off date for 2017 production to prepare for 2018 models and I think that may be soon.

    Just received my recall notice update from Lincoln. The module replacement part is now available. Time needed is less than a day. It is recall # 17C02. You can request complimentary pickup and delivery service with a Lincoln vehicle for use during service.
    The issue is in the event of a driver airbag deployment the driver airbag cushion may not completely fill or the cushion may detach from the module , increasing risk of an injury to the driver in a crash.

    That is great news, you will be a lot safer after that job is done. Hope the pickup and delivery service works well for you. At my dealership they use new MKC models so no hardship, for a day, and it works well.

    I'll post the order guide for the 2018 Continental once it's available. Do not expect any changes aside from color and wheel options. Even that might stay the same. One change I'm aware of is the Rhapsody Blue exterior color will now be available on all models, not just the Continental Black Label.

    According to the service advisor it will only take about 30 minutes. I have it scheduled for Tuesday AM. I will probably just drive to the dealership and wait. If it is going to take longer then I get a loaner. The loaner is a Continental. I'll keep you posted as to the results.

    At my dealer I schedule a time to bring my car in (7:30am to 9am) and they schedule the vehicles for service, to fit around vehicles already being worked on. It is usually the middle of the afternoon when I get my car back. You may want to check with your service adviser if you can be scheduled in and out in the time the job takes. You may ruin your schedule for the whole day.

    My appointment was for 10AM and I arrived promptly. The service advisor took my keys and I signed for the work you be done. A tech came and got my keys and took the car to his work bay. I walked to his area but he had already started to remove the airbag from the steering wheel. He had it in his hand and showed me what it looked like . He had the replacement on the table and immediately took the old one and marked it with an x so not to get it mixed up with the new one. Before he could place it in my car he said he had to record all of the numbers from the old component as well as the new one. He had the paperwork ready to record. I came back a short time later and he was already installing the part in by connecting the two inserts and then popped it into place . He had two clips on either side of the steering wheel to secure it in place and whalla , it was done.
    The whole time was about 30 minutes just as the advisor told me. They then took my car and had it washed and I once again signed to complete the recall. They gave me the paperwork and a fresh washed car. The only problem thst they left me with was interesting. My phone would not connect , the time was wrong and my setting for the radio were gone. I called another advisor and asked him to help reconnect my phone and he obliged. My radio settings I reset as well as the time of day.
    The reason for this failure was simple. The tech had to disconnect the battery while he worked on the airbag replacement because the horn kept going off. Since the airbag is right under the Lincoln Star on the steering wheel so is the horn. Guess he never thought about the consequences.
    Simple fix. Like programming your car all over again. I am now trying the digital read for speed instead of the round speedometer. Very interesting!

    You have an excellent dealership to exactly meet your needs on scheduling and timing, I am impressed.

    I had the digital speedometer on my Town Car and I liked it better than the analogue speedometer but did not have to give up the tach to get it.

    Most techs will disconnect the battery before even starting to mess with the air bag...just in case something get's bumped & the bag goes off in his face. That would take all the fun out of working on the car. Haha!

    BTW, I'm surprised they let you watch him work, most shops here won't let customers into the shop for liability reasons. And if they do let you in, it's only for a quick moment.

    I agree that Pasadena Lady has an awesome dealer.

    However, a Ford Tech does have the option of turning off all the SRS systems through their scanner using the OBD2 port so no possibility of an air bag being set off accidentally. For us though the removal of the neg battery terminal and waiting a few minutes to allow discharge of the capacitors in the SRS is the only way.

    I have never been stopped from entering the work bay when my car is being serviced. Sometime I am escorted by an advisor but he never remains with me. I know about the liablity problem but I am careful. I told the advisor that my car is here and so am I.
    I was too curious to see the airbag component that I had to get there quickly. If I would have been sooner I could have a picture of the part but alas I was too late.

    Around here most dealerships schedule a time an generally do work on that schedule. When my dealer has a problem or they are running late I am advised. It is a rare occurrence.
    I always joke with them thst if I need a loaner because of their delay , I also get a credit card with a high limit from whomever so I can go shopping to spend my time while they finish the work on my cat.
    The first time I said that the advisor came up with an alternate plan to get my car in right away! Guess he didn't want me to go shopping?
    The Ford Lincoln dealer has always been a wonderful place to get service. They are prompt and thorough.they do excellent work!

    Just had an interesting thing happen. I was driving home from the store and I put all the windows down. I put up the front windows and then when I put up the rear windows the Nav screen and then the entire screen went black. As I drove the screen clouds came on with the word Continental. It took several more seconds for the nav and the radio to return. However my phone would not connect. When I got home I turned off the car and then restarted it. All returned OK. I don't know what happened or if it will happen again. Maybe it's the heat here?
    Taking it to the dealer will not do any good because it is not happening again. I tried the same thing and nothing happened. So it was once and done or what. Technology does strange things!!!

    It sounds like you turned the engine off and then turned it back on. In your case it seems the Sync3 turned off and then turned back on and should be reported to your dealer even if it is not repeatable for now. Your dealer will have access to the Ford OASIS system that logs problems and escalates the problems to engineering and records solutions. The engineers work on problems with the most dire consequences and the most frequently occurring, so every event helps build a picture. Your dealer can also talk to engineering about a problem and it helps if it is recorded into OASIS.

    It sounds like all other systems were working correctly, like windows operation, dash gauges and messages, power steering, and driving along normally, etc.

    I mentioned the problem to my husband. He has a Terrain Denali. He said it happened twice to him when he tried to place a call. The screen went black momentarily and then re-booted itself so he could place a call. He thinks it is a problem with the SINC system. Interesting that a similar problem occurred with a Lincoln and a GMC product.
    I need to get my car washed today so when I go to the dealer I will mention it to the service manager and see what he has to say.

    Came back with my newly washed Lincoln . Looks great! Plus they even did the mats inside!
    I asked the service director about my occurrence with the screen going black and then returning like it was re-booting. He said the computer controls that and on some timetable does this . I don't know why it did this Shen I was putting up my rear windows but he said it could happen at any time. I really am not sure about this answer!

    The answer does not seem reasonable. It has never happened on my car so far.

    The Sync3 will download any new version when it is hooked up to your wi-fi or whatever you set up your phone connection with. That I was expecting to happen at home because I don't use a data connection in the car, so it cannot happen on the road.

    How is your phone connected for internet access and was it connected at the time?

    My phone is WIFI and it was not connected at the time. When it happens to my husband's Terrain his phone is connected but it seems only to happen when he places a call. Maybe it's a Verizon thing! It has never happened when my phone is connected.

    Well that ends the update theory. The SYNC 3 is based upon the QNX software by BlackBerry and is supposed to simplify the overly complicated first two generations of SYNC using software by Microsoft.

    I heard that QNX is a very good company in electronics and software and were taken over by BlackBerry. A little disappointing to hear of reliability issues when the system is so good. Although the Nav maps could be made more up to date.

    The updates are listed at $149 for me, so probably cheaper for you. We have the latest update I think since no update offered when I checked. The latest developments in my area are not available but everything else seems to work well for me. No trouble finding a route.
