Another MKC Recall
Ford Motor Company is recalling 13,574 units of the 2015 Lincoln MKC in North America to change the location of the push-button keyless ignition switch. This is the second Lincoln MKC recall announced this week, with the first describing an issue that necessitates a new fuel pump.
The problem: FoMoCo says that due to the close proximity of the push-to-start button to other controls, occupants are inadvertently shutting off the engine while driving, which may result in the vehicle’s restraint system not performing as intended in a crash, increasing the risk of injuries.
Ford says that it’s not aware of any accidents or injuries related to the condition.
Affected vehicles: 2015 Lincoln MKCs built between August 20th, 2013 and September 9th, 2014 at Louisville Assemble Plant. Of the 13,574 units.
Number of vehicles affected: 13,574 units, with:
11,144 in the United States and federalized territories
2,033 in Canada
387 in Mexico
The fix: dealers will replace the gearshift module with one that has the push-to-start button in a different location and reprogram the powertrain control module, all free of charge to the customer.
