360-Degree Camera On All-New Lincoln MKX Inspires Artists To Offer Unique Perspective On Surroundings

Six artists create photographs, poems and a film offering a fresh look at the beauty around a single place

09.08.2015 – The group interpreted the field of vision from the available camera system: forward, above, left, right and behind. This 360-degree artistic view of different locales mirrors what the all-new Lincoln MKX offers. In addition to the 360-degree bird’s-eye view, the camera system offers a 180-degree split view, which can be helpful in cross-traffic situations. The Lincoln Star moves out and tilts up to reveal the available front camera. The combination of front-camera deployment and how the lens is cleaned is an industry first.

In addition to the 360-degree bird’s-eye view, the camera system offers a 180-degree split view, which is an aid to the driver and is particularly helpful in parking situations. The Lincoln Star badge between the split-wing grille moves out and tilts up to reveal the available front camera. The combination of front-camera deployment and how the lens is cleaned is an industry first.

The Element, Unseen

The available 360-degree camera system looks out for objects and perspectives not easily seen. It stitches images from the front, rear and each side to create a composite view of the area directly surrounding the vehicle. These normally hidden views inspired the six artists to conceive an entirely different perspective based on the visible range of the camera system. Four cardinal directions were chosen to bring a distinct sense of dimension to a landscape without an obvious one.

The artists journeyed to White Sands National Park in New Mexico to develop thought-provoking images, film and poetry in the style of Surrealism. This suite of assets highlight the beauty that surrounds a single place, elevating hidden elements sometimes overlooked. “I believe that some of the best work comes from allowing things to just happen, from taking risks and from finding a new approach in a comfortable routine” said photographer Grant Legan. “Like the 360-degree camera, we allowed for multiple perspectives to come together in a harmonious, intriguing way.”

Grant Legan, Olivia Lopez, Chris Hainley, Leslie Bembinster, Lauren Steele and Duncan Wolf explored the desert to discover a sense of perspective in an environment where it’s not immediately obvious. They created their own vision of cardinal direction to showcase the hidden perspectives available through the lens of the available 360-degree camera in the 2016 Lincoln MKX.

“At Lincoln Automotive Financial Services, we take pride in creating an exceptional client experience,” said Krista Conyers, director of marketing. “This complimentary protection will alert our clients to activity affecting their credit and will help them restore their identity if it is compromised.”
