"unsupported device" for any memory stick above 4GB

We've had a 4GB memory stick in our 2010 MKT for a while, but recently downloaded more songs and it's 5GB. I tried installing an 8GB memory stick and it says "unsupported device". I did the Sync firmware update, and the same message still pops up. I tried three different brand memory sticks, all had the same problem.

    Any ideas?

I did before the last attempt, but it still didn't help.

I thought so. Unfortunately Lincoln and ford are not adding any more updates to our version of sync. It me awhile but I learned to live with it. One day I may upgrade the system with a aftermarket model

I have a 32-gig usb stick in my 2010 and no issues. I think the USB needs to be formatted as FAT32?
